GPOYW: Me and my Bombers with the Ithaca SufferJets.
We lost, but it was still really fun.
I met my Tumblr buddy, cellothebandit.
At the after party, I was in the second-to-the-top row of our pyramid.
At the after after party, an Australian girl opened my beer with her teeth and put a two foot long neon straw in it.
Ithaca knows how to party, man.
GPOYW: Coach Crimefighter, Saturday, May 21
There’s this guy who likes to knit things for all the skaters - he’s kind of an odd duck, but he’s a nice dude - and the thing he gave me is supposed to be a braided headband that he wasn’t able to figure out how to braid. So essentially it was a very long skinny tube. I fashioned it into a bow for my dress, which may very well be how it stays, as I may never get around to braiding it.
Also, my girls won their game that night. Way to go!
GPOYW: Black Apple edition.
Okay, so that’s not really me, but it kind of looks like me. Complete with Crimefighter mask. Really, it is “The Mysterious Genevieve” by Emily Martin aka The Black Apple. She is one of my crafting heroes. I actually ordered a print of this in one of her shop sales this week and was very excited when it came today, except apparently my mailman interprets the giant “DO NOT BEND” stickers on the front and back to mean “BEND ME TO FIT ME IN THE MAILBOX PLEASE,” so that was pretty cool.
GPOYW: Moxie Crimefighter in bench manager mode.
At the point, I was running on adrenaline, a lot of caffeine, and 4.5 hours of sleep. I’m dancing. Obviously, that is what dancing looks like.
GPOYW: Derby edition.
This is my headshot for this season, not that I’m skating… but I still get a headshot.
I have kind of a fat head in this picture, but I think that’s better than last year’s attempting-to-look-coy bad posture.
I need to make the elastic on my mask longer, because if I wear it for more than ten minutes it starts to dig into the skin behind my ears.
GPOYW: The zombie version.
God help me, but after looking back through old ACEN pictures, I kind of want to go again. Although I haven’t consumed anything anime related (aside from Miyazaki) since like, 2007, so I would be hideously out of the loop.
Maybe Chicago Comic Con?
ADDENDUM: I like how, if I ever mention how I’ve been to several anime conventions and I get weird looks from people, I reassure them with, “Well, I was drunk for most of it.”
